i've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.
i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.
what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.
Never had any paranormal experience, but I know plenty of normal looking JW's who claim that they purchased second hand clothes and when they brought it home the demons/spirits/ghosts haunted the house. When they got rid of the clothes the problem was solved.
My JW nephew claims that he heard noises and furniture moving in his bedroom during the night that he borrowed a Harry Potter book from a friend.
your qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.

Why should we suppose our view of reality is more truthful than a dolphin for example?
who cares about absolute "truth", whatever that means to you. The dolphin is not likely to travel to the moon, or experience roller coaster thrills, or have humans jump out of the water to entertain an audience full of dolphins. Sure, the life of a dolphin must be interesting, but it's no match for the myriad of possibilities available to humans. This business of truth/false should be approached as a practical matter that provides a common frame of reference to settle our disagreements.

Interesting, you are a person who defers to Bible scholars, but reads the bible literally. I don't think there are many Bible scholar who believe much of Genesis is factual. I am not quite sure what you call Bible scholars, Maybe you are consulting other religious fundamentalists, not the real Bible scholars.

My own JW brother is doing that. He and his wife have life insurances. He admitted that he believes that he will die before the big A hits. He is 52 and in excellent health. He has insisted that his children get a University education. He supports wholeheartedly his two older sons in their new business. He has a 25% stake in that business. He puts money into a retirement account.
I sometimes think that he knows it's all BS, but it's to late to quit. His wife is a die hard believer. They have a zillion friends, all JW's.

They are just a cross section of the population. I feel they are on the nicer side of the spectrum. Whether is contrived or not, I don't know and I don't care. What matters is that they can help lift the low spirit of others and I think some of them do. Even elders are good people. Unfortunately, they are the extension of the Governing Body's arm, and that turns them into a duplicate of the only people I hate, the Watchtower leadership
